Araucania - Winter Jewels
Araucania - Winter Jewels
This collection works with the colourful Araucania yarns, this time with Limari, Copihue, Aysen and Ranco. In this book Jane has created garments which are sympathetic to the colours of the natural Araucania yarns.
The people behind Araucania, Nora Bierschwale (a textile designer) and her daughter Michelle Boisier (who trained as an architect) are constantly working to develop the range of natural yarns and fibres featuring their exclusive variegated colours while still being sympathetic to their own careful handcrafted process. This works well with Jane’s garments as she creates and designs sympathetic to the natural yarns.
This traditional hand craft process ensures that each hank is different; its individual beauty emerges as the artisan blends colour to create several unique shades. This unique art of hand dyeing is learnt as one artisan teaches the next generation, a little like the art of knitting.
